Unluckiest competitors on Roand Oak must be Barry Clarke and Roy Adams, who got to the top of the section unaided, but stalled and rolled back on the way.

Simon Groves can always be relied on to produce a spectacular effort. I have got more photos of this car with wheels in the air than any other.

I suppose you can't steer with both front wheels in the air so it's no surprise to see simon Groves going the wrong way!

Just to give some idea how deep the mud was, this was Nigel Green's Escort!!

David and Aaron Hazeldean's VW Golf was the only class 1 car I saw on Round Oak. With no Diff to drag in the mud they managed a spectacular "Clean" climb.

If you failed on Round Oak the only way out was on the end of a tow rope, with excellent work being done by the Midland Rover Owners Cub, who did a great job. This was David Bache's MK1 Del ...
